Admission Requirements

Degree Program Admission Requirements:

A degree program consists of a major, a minor (required for non-comprehensive majors under the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees), and the applicable requirements associated with the degree (see the Degree Program page for more information).

Students must be admitted to a degree program before completing 60 credit hours or they will be encumbered and not allowed to register. Each fall and spring semester, undergraduate students who have completed 60 or more credit hours and have not been admitted into a degree program are advised by letter to seek admission in consultation with their advisor. Without written permission by the dean of the student's college, a student cannot be admitted to a baccalaureate degree program until he/she has completed these General Education basic required courses:  CIS/CSC 101 or CSC 111, COM 115, ENG 110, Mth 135 or higher, and PED 100.  Since Bachelor of Applied Science students typically transfer in excess of 60 hours, it is necessary to complete the basic required courses within the first semester or two.

Program Requirements:

  1. Completion of AAS or AS degree from an accredited two-year program (students may be concurrently enrolled at Missouri State University while completing an associated degree).
  2. Meet Missouri State University general education requirements (42 credit hours, may be less dependent upon associates degree general education, see below).  Completion of AA degree in combination with an AAS meets Missouri State general education requirements.
  3. Complete 40 hours upper division credit, (300-400 level courses) 12 hours must be from the Department of Industrial Management to include IDM 359 and IDM 458.
  4. Meet Missouri State University residency requirement: 30 hours from Missouri State, 20 of these hours must chronologically be the last courses taken for completion of the BAS.
  5. Complete 125 total hours (associates degree courses and bachelors degree credit combined).
  6. Other non-course related requirements (see Missouri State University catalog for details).

Meeting General Education Requirements:

See General Education Website for complete requirements.

Meeting Missouri State University Upper division credit requirements:

Students will meet with an advisor and determine the course sequence that will best meet the student's long-term goals. A number of upper division management and technical courses are available through the Department of Industrial Management and across the Missouri State campus to accomplish this.
