The Bachelor of Applied Science is for any student who has completed, or is in the process of, completing an accredited two-year Associates of Science (AS)or Associates of Applied Science (AAS) Degree.
"Twelve years ago I was preparing to graduate with an Associate's degree, just as you may be, and exploring my career options. When I started at a two-year school all I could think of was getting school over with and making money as quickly as possible. But after two years of school I came to the realization that maybe school wasn't so bad, I didn't want to be stuck in a technician or trades role, and a couple more years of school would allow me to advance and maximize my earning potential. After graduating with an associate's degree I spent the next 3 ½ years working on a bachelor's degree. I was able to use the knowledge gained at the associates level to obtain a high paying job while working on a bachelor's degree and then used the associates degree in conjunction with my bachelor's degree to increase my marketability after graduation. Even though it may have taken me over five years to obtain a bachelor's degree I never would have reached my maximum earning potential without it. You have an opportunity I never had through the BAS (Bachelor of Applied Science) at Missouri State University. The BAS transfers all of the hours completed at the associates level towards a bachelor's degree. Instead of taking the next 3 ½ years to complete a bachelor's degree like I did, you could be done in as little as two years. The BAS is a unique program for the purpose of building on the technical content gained at the associates level and finishing it with management content at the bachelor's level. The combination of technical and management content prepares the successful graduate for leadership roles related to the graduate's area of technical specialty. Once you commit to the BAS program an advisor will be assigned to assist in the development of a curriculum which will help you reach your goals.
